New Agents

So you want to become a real estate professional…That’s great news! Let us help guide you through what can sometimes be a difficult process with confusing steps. The internet can be information overload. Sometimes hours of research can turn nothing up except a headache.

Here’s what you’ll need to know in order to get your license-

Pre-requisites:

You must be at least 18 years old/ You must have high school diploma/ You must have a US Social Security Number

THEN…

1: To get started, You need to contact the Department of Business and Professional Regulations (DBPR) and request a packet of information regarding taking the state licensing exam to become a licensed Florida Realtor. Phone: 850.487.1395

2: They will mail a packet to you, which includes among other things, a finger print card (and instructions for what to do with it), an an application. This application is to be completed by you for the state of Florida. It is used to ensure that you are clear to go ahead and begin the process of becoming a licensed real estate agent.

3: Once you have completed the paperwork and finger print card and have submitted them back to the state…(per the instructions included in the packet)

4: You should receive approval from the state to proceed (this approval typically comes to you via email).

5: Then you will then need to contact a local Real Estate school to register for your real estate prep course. (This course is designed to assist you in passing the state exam.)

We recommend: Ed Klpofer School of RE (this is an actual classroom setting)

8695 College Parkway Ste. 1161, Ft. Myers, FL 33919
(239) 481-0017 or 800-370-1570

After You Have Taken The Course

Once you have taken the course, you will be tested at the end of the course. If you pass the test, your instructor will cover the information needed to then apply to take the state licensing exam to become an “official” Realtor.

If you should happen to fail the exam at the end of the prep class, don’t worry you will have one more chance to take it. If you fail it a second time, you will be required to repeat the course again. Please keep in mind that there are costs associated with taking the course and the state exam, To find out how much the course is please contact the schools through the contact information listed above. To inquire about exam costs, please contact the DBPR Application Policies and Fee Customer Care Center at: 850.487.1395
